Educating ourselves, to better serve you! |
Dr. Dana Colson, Dr. Bernard Gryfe and Dr. Dale Nixon, along with team members Maria, Lana and Cindy attended a course by Dr. G. Christensen in Park City, Utah. They studied exceptional practices in today's dentistry. Together they will work to put into practice the tools and ideas discussed throughout the course.
Special thanks to Dr. Ansari for "holding the fort"!

Electric Toothbrushes
Studies have shown that there are several advantages that electric toothbrushes possess over their manual alternatives. They have built in timers and are more effective in plaque removal when brushing.
An electric tooth brush often costs more than a manual brush however, we suggest that it is well worth the investment. For children inexpensive 'spin' brushes are available in drug stores.
 |
Dr Colson's favourite electric toothbrush is the Sonicare as it dismembers the feel of the bacteria and reaches with its sonic vibration beyond the brush position. |
It is also quite effective at cleaning around and below the gumline, as well as massaging the gums. You can actually feel and notice the difference immediately.
Feel free to ask us about electric toothbrushes on your next visit.
Ozone and Remineralization
Are you experiencing dry mouth due to medications? Or increase in decay or tooth sensitivity?
You may also want to consider customized trays to wear with a remineralizing material. Your teeth's enamel can loose mineral content for several reasons softening the tooth structure. The natural remineralizing material or fluoride 5000ppm can harden the tooth structure and preserve your teeth.
|
|
Please feel free to ask us if you have any questions.
The in-office use of Ozone can also help to remineralize beginning areas of decay and desensitize sensitive teeth. This can help prevent the necesity of a root canal. You can visit healozone.com for more information on the use of ozone.
Grinding
Stress or 'low grade' headaches are often related to grinding and clenching your teeth. This grinding and clenching often occurs in your sleep making it hard for you to recognize that you are doing it. Occasionally it will be your spouse who is annoyed by your night time grinding that brings it up to you. If not your spouse then often we will notice the wear on your tooth surfaces. Often your jaw will feel 'achy' or your teeth will become hypersensitive.
Your headaches may be related to your mouth. Ask us how you can feel better, preserve your teeth from wear and decrease stress fracture lines in your teeth. We want you to preserve your smile until 120 years of age!
Advances in Whitening
Studies have shown that using at home whitening products in trays for thirty minutes to an hour and a half a day, can give the same results as using them overnight. Advances in whitening have shown stronger whitening trays are more effective in maximizing the results of whitening products.
If you have older trays, please let us know and we will remake them for you at a nominal cost. New products are available which decrease tooth sensitivity while whitening.
In office ZOOM! whitening is still our favourite, and we have decided to lower our prices for everyone to enjoy the experience of reactivating your white smile!
Complimentary whitening consults are available to help you achieve the results you want. |

Third Annual Holiday Food Drive |
The holiday season is a truly exciting time of year. The weather outside is changing, vacation times are quickly approaching and a new year is just around the corner.
With all of the good cheer and excitement in the air, our team feels that it is of particular importance this time of year to think about those who could use a hand. So for the third year now we are holding a food drive to benefit the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto.
|
|
The Daily Bread Food Bank has been helping people in Toronto since 1983 and works hard all year in its fight against hunger in our city. Click here to learn more about Daily Bread.
From November 19 until December 19 2007 we will be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to the Daily Bread Food Bank. If you would like to participate, please drop off a non-perishable food item on your next visit or if you happen to be in the neighborhood.
All donations are welcome!
Thank you everyone for your support! |
