  Time for a Change?

Next time you brush your teeth take a closer look at your brush. If the ends are starting to fray or the bristles are starting to lose their shape, it's time for a new brush.

We recommend a soft bristled brush as it is easier on your gums and enamel yet effective enough to remove daily buildup and food particles. The head size and brush shape are also important. You should be able to maneuver the brush comfortably around your mouth, especially when brushing around and behind your back teeth.

It is recommended that you change your toothbrush at least every four months, so if you can't remember when you last changed your tooth brush ...perhaps today is a good day!

Watch What You Drink - Chemical Erosion on Teeth

Mountain Dew and Arizona Ice Tea are two of the worse drinks to wear away teeth due to the acidity and the citrus component. Also Ginger Ale, Sprite and Orange juice are very erosive. Best to drink root beer, Coca-Cola, carbonated water or tea!

Now the good news is that fruit juices with calcium added such as Orange Juice with calcium buffers the acidity and does not wear away the enamel on your teeth.

Do not eat 2 hours prior to sleeping or lifting weights as when we eat the ph of our stomach goes to .8 and takes 2 hours to neutralize back to a ph of 3 to 4. If our ph is .8 and we have any reflux or regurgitation from our stomach then the damage to the teeth is so much more severe.

And this next point is very important. Due of the acidity of the soft drinks and citrus drinks brushing your teeth even 2 hours later, can wear away your enamel even more!

Chemical erosion on teeth can be very damaging and this cannot be replaced without the help of your dentist. So ...beware of what you drink and when!
Save your teeth!
They are more important than you know!
