My name is Jennifer Kim. I grew up in Etobicoke and obtained my undergraduate degree in human biology at the University of Toronto. During this time, my interest in dentistry blossomed while spending the summer in the office of my family dentist. In 1998, I was accepted into the dentistry program at the University of Western Ontario and spent four great years in the beautiful city of London, Ontario.

For the first two-years after graduation, I worked in a private practice in Mississauga. I was very happy to finally apply everything I had learned and explore opportunities for continuing education in cosmetic dentistry, comprehensive oral rehabilitation, and management of dental anxiety.
I met my husband-to-be while he was visiting his family in Toronto during a Christmas holiday from his PhD program at Johns Hopkins University. We happily made our home in Baltimore, Maryland for the next four years.
During my time in the U.S., I worked in a large, hospital-based dental program in York, Pennsylvania. The program was affiliated with the faculties of dentistry at the University of Maryland and the University of Pennsylvania. I was the Chief Dental Resident in my second year and I stayed on as an Attending Staff Dentist. I participated in comprehensive oral rehabilitation for patients with high dental anxiety and pediatric patients with complex treatment needs. The program also had an outreach program to provide monthly treatment for physically- and mentally-challenged patients with minimal access to care. The dental residents were also consulted for all hospital in-patients with dental needs. I learned that many patients with pressing medical conditions had a greater sense of well-being with even the most minor dental treatment. My experience in the program was very rewarding.
My husband and I moved back to Toronto in September 2007 after he obtained a position as a staff nephrologist at the Toronto General Hospital. I began my search for an Associate Dentist position in the GTA and worked in Etobicoke until July 2008. I was made aware of Dr. Dana Colson's excellent reputation by a lab that she and I mutually used. After meeting Dr. Colson and her staff, I was impressed by the innovative and collegial atmosphere of the office. I am happy to join the office and expand my knowledge of holistic dentistry. I will also further develop my interests in cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, coping with dental anxiety through continued participation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The Greater New York Dental Meeting, and The Seattle Institute for Advanced Dental Education.
